Our transition from 2012 and 2013 was filled with travel, family time and heaps of good food about which I will write in a couple of days.
Between Christmas and New Year we did a little trip to Italy together with my mum and enjoyed once more the beautiful nature of Umbria which was very foggy and rainy for a start but showed it’s beauty on the last day before we left. In Umbria we stayed once more at our favourite hotel in the world the Nikis Resort. I knew my mum was gonna love this place just as much as we do. Lena, the owner, and her family have done an amazing job of restoring this old ‘Borgo’ into a wonderful resort. Anyone who cares for a warm, relaxing atmosphere and nativeness combined with great interior design will love this place. After our third stay at the Nikis it almost feels like coming home. There is a certain magic about the place that makes me relax instantly when I get out of the car. It is the perfect place to explore the near towns of Perugia, Assisi or Gubbio.
After two days in Umbria we continued our trip to Tuscany and stayed two nights at Riva Lofts close to the centre of Firenze. It was the perfect location for us as we could take walks with Cookie along the river and the Le Cascine park on the other side of the Arno. On the other hand it was close enough to reach the centre of Firenze by tram within 5 minutes. At the hotel we were warmly welcomed by Carlotta who gave us heaps of great suggestions on shopping and good restaurants in Firenze. I will tell more about it soon.
I fell in love with this country once more!
