After we visited last year’s Fuorisalone in Milan, we absolutely wanted to see this year’s official Salone Internazionale del Mobile. Following a press invitation, we drove to Italy last Thursday, curious to see this massive furniture trade fair. The fairgrounds and amount of halls and stands are truly impressive. We saw a lot of inspiring things even though I have to say that the Fuorisaloni are more fun and interesting than the fair itself. Last year we saw lots of small and big design and especially in the Tortona area we discovered a lot of unusual things. Obviously the official saloni are less playful as they target the industry professionals in the first place. However, we loved the designs shown at Euroluce, the lights exhibition. Brands that stood out in my opinion were
Penta with their cute glass lamps, Foscarini that showed new lamps in orange and green called Chouchin mini and Flos showing a Lampshade hanging on a thin string, that was shone into by a spot on the floor. A totally new concept.
Besides that I liked what Flexform was showing, also if the design of the booth itself didn’t impress me. Gervasoni had a very nice stand presenting playful designs that can spice up any interior.
