One of my favourite meals to invite guests to is a nice brunch. It’s a great opportunity to spend a full day together without any time pressure and it can be perfectly combined with playing a board game or follow the feasting with a long walk. On the other hand you won’t have to spend lots of time cooking in front of the guests as almost everything can be prepared in advance. Last time we invited our guests for 11 am and they left around 5 pm after lots of eating, laughing and playing Monopoly.
Our New Year’s brunch included the following, which we set up buffet-style on our kitchen island:
– deviled eggs
– smoked salmon
– crostini with tomato pesto
– eggs à la minute
– muesli & fresh fruit
– homemade baguettes & rolls
– croissants
– selection of cheeses
– selection of salami and hams
– selection of honey & jam
– coffee, tea
– fresh orange juice
– prosecco
My absolute favourite were the crostini with tomato pesto! I can’t wait to host another brunch this time for our friends. Maybe followed by a session of guitar hero or a knitting party. I guess Mr C. would opt for guitar hero. What are your favourite brunch dishes? What your favourite board games?
