During our vacation in Florida we tried a couple of really nice restaurants, the best ones we found on the gulf coast.
At the Mad Hatter on Sanibel Island we had the best lobster ever. Unfortunately we were too late to enjoy the sunset which should be amazing from this place. But the food was more than worth it, making our way from Cape Coral to Sanibel. The food was simply amazing! Starting with an amouse bouche of blue crab cake, we moved on directly to our mains and in the end regretted not having taken any starters. My boyfriend’s lobster was divine, so was my bouillabaisse. We finished off with sharing a Cheesecake which was probably the best I’ve tried so far. The service was outstanding. Not to be missed when in the area!
Yabba Island Grill in Naples was another great experience. It’s very relaxed, casual and offers outside diningwhich was a relief to us as we prefer the warm weather to airconditioned rooms (in Switzerland we don’t get too much warm days so you have to take advantage!). The Yabba Island Grill offers a huge variety of choices and they all sounded very tempting. I went for one of their menus which was well worth it. My boyfriend tried the spare ribs which were sooo good and incredibly tender. We found the portions served huge, but then again we are used to European sizes which are incomparable.
At the east coast we had an unexpectedly great breakfast at Paris Bakery & Cafe in West Palm Beach. Mainly because of lack of options (West Palm Beach is kinda dead at 9 am on a Saturday) we ended up sitting outside of this cafe and were positively surprised by the big choice of breakfast items, crèpes, sandwiches etc. they were offering. We took French toast with strawberries and bacon (sounds odd but makes a great combo) and scrambled eggs. We shared both and were completely stuffed and happy! Great add-on: they offer a free Wifi which of course comes in handy when travelling.
